2.42. Check and adjustment of backlashes of valves
THE GENERAL DATA

The prevention

Check of backlashes of valves is necessary for making on the cold engine.


ENGINES 1,8, 2,0 AND 2,2 L

Installation of the piston of the first cylinder in ВМТ

At installation of the piston of the first cylinder in ВМТ in a step of compression the label on a pulley of the right camshaft should coincide with the index.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove assemblage of the air filter and disconnect the gauge of weight of a stream of air (МAF).
2. Uncover heads of the block of cylinders. Then, using adjusting labels, establish the piston of the first cylinder in the top dead point in a compression step (fig. Installation of the piston of the first cylinder in ВМТ see).
3. Using an edge щупа, measure backlashes of valves and write down their values (fig. Check of a backlash of valves by an edge щупа see).
4. If adjustment клапанного a backlash, ослабьте a counternut is necessary and, rotating the adjusting screw of the valve, establish a demanded backlash (fig. Adjustment клапанного a backlash see).
5. After adjustment клапанного a backlash hold the adjusting screw with a screw-driver and tighten a counternut.
6. Adjust клапанные backlashes in other cylinders in the following sequence: 3–2–4. Before adjustment клапанных backlashes establish the piston in the corresponding cylinder in ВМТ in a compression step for what turn a cranked shaft on 180 clockwise. To be convinced that the piston of the corresponding cylinder is in ВМТ, check up arrow position on a camshaft pulley (the Arrangement of arrows fig. see a camshaft pulley).
7. Establish a cover of a head of the block of cylinders and fix bolts.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Uncover heads of the block of cylinders.
2. Remove a casing of a gear belt from outside the right camshafts.
3. Turn a pulley of a cranked shaft clockwise while the label on a camshaft pulley will not be established in position of an hour hand 2 hours of 30 minutes (see fig. the Arrangement of labels a camshaft pulley). Measure клапанный a backlash of the inlet valve № 1 and the final valve № 3.
4. Using an edge щупа, measure клапанный a backlash of the inlet valve № 1 and the final valve № 3 (fig. Use щупа for measurement клапанного a backlash see). Write down the measured backlashes of valves.
5. Turn a cranked shaft clockwise until adjusting labels on a camshaft pulley will not be established in position of an hour hand 4 hours of 30 minutes (fig. the Arrangement of pulleys of camshafts see). Measure клапанные backlashes of the final valve № 2 and the inlet valve № 3.
6. Turn a cranked shaft of the engine until adjusting labels on a camshaft pulley will not be established in position of an hour hand of 7 hours of 30 minutes (fig. the Arrangement of pulleys of camshafts see). Measure a backlash of the inlet valve № 2 and the final valve № 4.
7. Turn a cranked shaft clockwise until adjusting labels on a camshaft pulley will not be established in position of an hour hand of 10 hours of 30 minutes (fig. the Arrangement of pulleys of camshafts see). Measure a backlash of valves of the final valve № 1 and the inlet valve № 4.
8. If backlashes of valves differ from demanded, it is necessary to replace an adjusting washer with a washer of a demanded thickness.
9. Turn a valve pusher so that cut in a pusher was established at an angle 45 in relation to a camshaft.
10. For pressing of a pusher of the valve the engine of 2,5 l use the special adaptation.
11. Establish the holder of the special tool on a camshaft
12. Establish депрессор on the holder of the special adaptation and fix it шарнирным a finger.
13. Establish шарнирный a finger in депрессор and the holder.
14. Turn шарнирный a finger to press a valve pusher.
15. After pressing of a pusher of the valve, take an adjusting washer, using a small screw-driver or a tweezers.
16. Measure a thickness of an adjusting washer. For calculation of a thickness of a new adjusting washer use the following formula:
Inlet valve S = (V + T) – 0.2 mm.
Final valve S = (V + T) – 0.25 mm.
T = a thickness of an old adjusting washer;
V = measured клапанный a backlash;
S = a thickness of a new adjusting washer.
17. Choose a new adjusting washer with the thickness closest to the settlement. Use an adjusting washer with a thickness from 2,22 mm to 2,82 mm with step of 0,01 mm.
18. Using the special tool, press a pusher of the valve and establish a new adjusting washer.
19. Repeat procedure at a choice and replacement of adjusting washers on other valves.
