2.5. Level of a cooling liquid

The prevention

Do not uncover a broad tank on the hot engine as it is possible to burn from steams of a hot cooling liquid.

Avoid hit of a cooling liquid on the painted surfaces of a body and clothes. Otherwise wash out a place where the cooling liquid a plentiful quantity of water has got.


Cars have tight system of cooling under pressure. The broad tank of white colour is in a forward part of a motor compartment and is connected by a hose to the basis of a head of a radiator.

Level of a cooling liquid is between labels FULL and LOW on a broad tank. Level changes according to temperature of the engine and should be hardly above label LOW on the cold engine and hardly below label FULL on the hot engine. For pouring it is necessary to use only cooling liquid on a basis этиленгликоля with anticorrosive additives. As a last resort, it is possible to add water, but it is necessary to mean that thus the temperature of freezing of a cooling liquid will increase.

If level of a cooling liquid constantly decreases, it specifies in presence of leaks in cooling system.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Carefully check up all details of system of cooling (hoses, a radiator, stoppers etc.) visually and if it does not give results make system check under pressure.
2. If it is necessary to uncover a radiator, wait before full cooling of the engine, then through rags, unscrew a cover before the first fixing and then completely remove it.
3. At check of level of a cooling liquid also check up its condition. If it very dark or rusty a liquid it is necessary to merge, wash out system of cooling and to fill in a fresh cooling liquid.
