9.4. Power shafts

The twisting moment from a transmission or the main transfer is transferred to wheels through two or four steel power shafts. The external ends of power shafts are inserted into naves of a wheel and fixed by nuts.

On the internal ends of power shafts hinges of equal angular speeds (SHRUS) which are mobile both in angular, and in an axial direction are established. Internal hinges are applied two types: трехплечий with rollers or ball with a separator. In case of damage of a cover hinges can be disassembled and washed out, but if any details are damaged, hinges should be replaced as a unit.

Covers should be checked periodically on damages and greasing leak. The torn protective covers of SHRUS should be replaced immediately, hinges differently can be damaged. Cover replacement includes power shaft removal.

The most frequent signs of deterioration or damage of SHRUS is, besides the greasing leak, clicking noise at turns or during acceleration of movement of the car and vibration at movement on high speed.
